Research Scholar, The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (Berlin)

The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, an  international and interdisciplinary research institute, Berlin, Dep. III, Artefacts, Action, and Knowledge, Director: Prof Dagmar Schäfer, seeks an outstanding scholar for the position of a Research scholar, starting date 01 September 2017.

The position is for three years, with the possibility of renewal for another three years.

Candidates should have a doctorate in hand and a strong publication record in the field of history of science and technology, preferably with a regional focus on Asia. They should show evidence of scholarly promise in the form of publications or other achievements. A previous postdoctoral position is desirable.

Applications from scholars working in the fields of the history of science in Asia are especially welcome.

Research projects may concern any historical period. Research projects within the following areas are particularly welcome:

It is expected that candidates will be able to present their own work and discuss that of others fluently in English. Applications may be submitted in German, English, Chinese or French.
