The research training group 1576/2 ‘Value and equivalence. The genesis and transformation of values from an archaeological and anthropological perspective’, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), offers a postdoctoral position (2 years, E13 TV-G-U, 100%) starting 1st of April
Collectors, artists and craftsmanship in Late Imperial China: Objects and their values.
Applicants have completed their PhD with outstanding results in Sinology and should have good skills in Modern and Classical Chinese. Research experience in the field of the Late Imperial China (Song to Qing) will be expected.
The research training group at the Goethe University Frankfurt and the TU Darmstadt focuses on concepts of value and equivalence in relation to material culture in a broad geographical and chronological framework. The successful applicant will be expected to actively contribute to the activities of the programme and its development, and to support doctoral students in their professional and personal development. The main language of the research training group is German. However, due to the internationality of the group, some guest lectures and research projects are in English, and applications in English are welcome. The acquisition of a B2 competency in German will be expected after taking up the position. Residence in or near Frankfurt is a requirement of the position.
